Worlds Colliding

Endangered Red Crowned parrots who have lost their habitats in their native Mexico came to Los Angeles via the pet trade and escaped from homes often enough to create a population in the wild more sizable than in their homeland. They’ve found food sources in the fruits and flowers of non-native trees. I’ve seen a couple of these freshly escaped birds crash into my windows with a thud. The window creates an illusion of space for them to fly into and I wanted to imagine this moment of collision between expectation and reality.
